This is Sargol grade saffron, the highest grade available, meaning all red strands. This saffron features extremely long, stamen, with no yellow strands.
Grown in Herat, Afghanistan, which is the same growing region as the Iranian production just across the border.
Saffron threads are the stamen of a flower and each flower only grows three stamens. They are harvested by hand and the most valuable spice in the world.
The distinct floral flavor and golden hue make this spice irreplaceable in dishes like paella and risotto alla Milanese.
