As chefs we are always looking for the best ingredients and that always leads you to the farm. While spices are used in nearly every recipe, they are often an after thought. Many don’t even know where their spices are grown or how old they are. We are here to change that.  Our goal is to bring you a farmers market full of flavor and be there with you in the kitchen from seed to  feast. Welcome to the Spice Tribe.

 

SPICE BLENDS: FOOD WITH A STORY

Our incredibly unique spice blends tell the stories of our adventures and celebrate the beautiful cultures that make up our global community. We want to empower you in the kitchen to cook healthy and delicious meals with only the highest quality ingredients. Our blends are made in small batches and always ground fresh from whole spices. Our promise is to create seasonings you can trust. We never put any salt, preservatives, additives or fillers of any kind in our blends so you can continue to feed your body what it deserves.

SINGLE-ORIGIN: FARM TO TABLE SPICES

Historically, spices have been the center of a ruthless global trade, with very little consideration for the generations of rural farmers and artisans who tend these rarefied crops: For instance, the blush-hued, mineral-rich Peruvian salt harvested from ancient ponds by a solitary community in the Sacred Valley of the Incas. The fragrant cassia cinnamon meticulously peeled from centuries-old trees by Sumatrans in the misty Kerinci Valley. The wild black cumin seeds painstakingly gathered in the hinterlands of northeastern Afghanistan by mountain foragers. The wonder and worth of single-origin spices is lost on commodity traders whose bottom line hinges on volume rather than virtue. To disrupt this antiquated, cutthroat system, Spice Tribe works with Roots of Peace and other agricultural co-ops to source directly from farmers and artisans. A fair wage is paid for freshly harvested heirloom spices that express their unique terroir through potent aroma, unmatched flavor and vibrant color. Cultural legacies and hardworking rural communities are upheld—the true measures of progress. And a seasonal, farmer’s market-inspired focus naturally emerges for a reimagined spice cabinet with New World style and Old World soul.

At Spice Tribe, we follow the mantra: “Food is our medicine and cooking is our meditation.” Using quality ingredients not only results in a tastier meal but is key to a healthy and balanced diet. Our fresh spices are the perfect way to bring incredible flavor to your food while also ingesting healthy compounds that fight inflammation. Inflammatory conditions in our bodies are thought to be the root cause of many health concerns, both physical and mental.
